This brings us to the end of the Contemporary Collecting section. We have seen the various approaches that should be considered when undertaking contemporary collecting and how vital it is to involve communities in this process.

By this point you should:

  • Be clearer about what you want to develop during the module.
  • Understand what is meant by contemporary collecting  and how it should be approached.
  • Be familiar with the different approaches to contemporary collecting.
  • Understand how a participatory approach should be taken to contemporary collecting.

The next section is focused on how we use our collections to communicate – Interpretation and Use, where interpretation is defined as: the way in which collections information is communicated to audiences.
