Reflecting exercise – Decision making

The previous exercise included an extract focused on leadership, which highlighted the importance of “top-down” buy in for anti-racism work. Leadership and accountability for anti-racism from the top matters, however who gets to decide and demand the direction of travel for this work is also important.

Spend 10 minutes reflecting on the following prompts:

  • Who contributes to decision making in your museum?
  • How does this map against the people your museum works for and with?
  • Who is included and who is excluded?
  • Who benefits and who doesn’t?
  • What factors influence your organisation’s decision-making?
  • How could decision-making be done differently?
