The second principle in the Code of Ethics is Stewardship of Collections.
Where a collection is defined as a body of cultural and heritage material. Collections may be physical, intangible or digital.
And an item is defined as a physical, non-tangible or digital object or material held by a museum.
Each organisation has a particular collections focus and this focus should be informed by an internal collections policy or strategy, operated within good practice collections management and an ethical framework.
