Taking a Participatory Approach
It is critical to take a participatory approach to contemporary collecting to make collections relevant to existing audiences. The extent to which this is done is in some part dependent on your organisations experience of this type of work.
This will be dealt with in more detail in the next section, “Interpretation and Use”.
There are smaller steps that can be taken such as engaging with representatives of the community you are seeking to represent better with your collections.
