Introduction

In the previous sections, you reviewed the first six Manifesto principles:

  1. Cultural rights and cultural democracy
  2. Social Justice
  3. Activism
  4. Community participation
  5. Collections
  6. Research and evaluation

We will now focus on the final two Manifesto principles of partnerships and workforce:

  • Partnerships – Partnerships should bring communities together and be based on the principle of equity. Museums should work with a diverse range of partners and think beyond traditional partners and audiences.
  • Workforce – Museums need a workforce that represents their communities, is respected and rewarded equally, and delivers and supports the ambitions of this Manifesto.

By looking in detail at these final principles, you will be equipped with all the thinking and good practice examples that have shaped this Manifesto. You will have had the chance to consider your own experience alongside the Manifesto ideas and values.

In this section, we will look at international reflections on the Learning and Engagement Manifesto. By considering the perspectives of colleagues working internationally, you will have the opportunity to gain further insight into how the Manifesto can shape practice. Engaging with these international examples will also support you in demonstrating the value of learning and engagement across our sector.
