Ethical reflection is an essential part of everyday museum practice. This code cannot contain all the answers to the ethical issues that museums face.
If you are faced with a situation or a dilemma you should use the Code to shape and inform your thinking. There is additional guidance available on the website, as well as a number of case studies that focus on particular principles of the Code of Ethics.
What is essential, is to have broader discussions. Ethical dilemmas are often complex and gathering a range of views and insights so you can see the dilemma broadly and within the context of other decisions and practices.
